What is Tirzepatide?
Tirzepatide is a first-in-class dual-agonist peptide designed to selectively activate both the GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) and GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptors. By synergistically engaging these two incretin pathways, Tirzepatide enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion, suppresses postprandial glucagon levels, slows gastric emptying, and significantly reduces caloric intake by increasing satiety and decreasing appetite.
Clinical data demonstrates superior fat loss and body weight reduction compared to selective GLP-1 mono-agonists (such as semaglutide).
